The front door of the house opened up right into the middle of the living room. This was awkward for the owners and visitors and for this reason, the owners barely ever used their front door.
We divided the long narrow living room into two distinct areas — an intimate living room for gathering and a cozy reading nook, creating a nice opening where people can comfortably come and go through the front door.
The reading nook being, being in the North part of the home which is related to one’s Life Path and ruled by the Water element, the blue Womb Chair worked perfectly. We selected an organically shaped rug to ground and define the space and to create a easy flow for walking through the area.
The living room area is in the Southwest of the home which represents Personal Growth and is ruled by the Earth element. We chose earthy colors for this space which instantly made it feel cozy and settled. We painted an accent wall in a strong color to create a focal point and strengthen the wall. The owners layered the accent wall with personally meaningful artwork by mentors, family members, and close friends.
